Egypt cuts Internet, deploys riot police

Egyptians woke Friday morning to find their Internet access shut down in much of the country and to the sight of heavy deployments of black-clad, truncheon-wielding riot police, as the country braced for massive anti-government protests on a scale unseen in decades.

Opposition activists said the popular turnout on this traditional day of prayer and rest could prove to be decisive in determining whether the historic four-day-old protest movement gains momentum in its calls for the end of President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule, or fizzles beneath the weight of a violent government crackdown.

IPhone application for Athens International Airport to be released

Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos is about to release a new IPhone application, that is still under development.  There was a leakage of some screenshots earlier this day, published on the Greek Radio’s site of HotStation. Due to this article, the Airport that started its operation just in 2001 is still in the spirit of today and tomorrow’s trends, fashion and technology and it will release the Athens Airport iPhone application before Xmas season.

How to Know When You’re in Love

Eleven years ago, I was in the last throes of despair with my ex-wife. I didn’t much like her, nor she me. Within a year, we would be divorced. She was the kind who slept in another room — sometimes another room in a nearby city. Me, I gleefully flew off to Scotland on a moment’s notice. It was like that. We tolerated one another, and no more.

Drug trial treatment for diabetes gives some positive results

The five-year, U.S. government-backed study, presented at the American Diabetes Association meeting on Tuesday, was stopped temporarily in February 2008 because there were 20 percent more deaths among diabetics with heart problems who got intensive treatment to lower their blood sugar compared to those who were treated more conservatively.

The patients getting the tougher treatment were transferred into the gentler group and the trial continued.
